How many things have you said or done today that you already regret?
How many over your lifetime?
Honestly, I remember hundreds of mistakes and sins that have hurt others or my testimony for Christ. I have forgotten many more.
I get a pain in the pit of my stomach from painful memories which I cannot erase. I have ruined friendships, hurt the trust of many, and angered family and friends. The problem is my foolish mouth or my selfish nature. My flesh wants to step on anyone or anything that gets in my way. Man, I get so tempted to despair and I want to throw in the towel! How could God ever use a fallen human as miserable as I?
Ephesians 2:4-6 4 But[a] God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
God has an answer for every sin and mistake I have committed or ever will commit. That answer is Jesus Christ. Through the mercy of God I have been forgiven. I must ask his forgiveness today for my sins, and I must ask others for forgiveness, but God’s mercy will always overcome my shortcomings. Praise God for giving me the second chance which I do not deserve!
